Boss Martians

Sweat pours, drums explode, and amps convulse. With ears pummeled, a room full of maniac Rock & Roll addicts yell out the chorus to “HEY HEY YEAH YEAH” as Seattle’s four-piece The Boss Martians set about methodically destroying the club’s stage. The ravenous crowd devours each sonic blast The Martians serve up, song after song, back to back, no stops. Chances are you’ve heard these guys but just didn’t know it yet. “HEY HEY YEAH YEAH”, the Martians’ self-recorded party rock anthem, is featured in E-Trade’s “Talking Baby” TV commercials and as a result is all over international TV—and as of 2009 the track has been adopted as a fight song by NFL Super Bowl hopefuls The Carolina Panthers! (That’s right, cheerleader routines, lyrics on the mondo-sized color LED video screen, the works!)

“Hey Hey Yeah Yeah” is only one of 13 new tracks on The Martians’ latest full-length release “Pressure in the SODO” (available now on MuSick Recordings), which also features a song the band wrote, and recorded, with the Godfather of Punk himself, Iggy Pop!

2008 saw The Martians relentlessly burn up the blacktop across the United States and Western Europe for nearly 5 months in support of “Pressure in the SODO.” From SXSW ‘08 in Austin to Bonn, Germany for the filming of their first European TV concert for Germany’s Rockpalast live music show, it’s obvious that this band lives to play live, and guitarist Evan Foster and bassist Scott Myrene depend on their Dean Markley strings for every show, every session, every day. Having recently signed to Little Steven Van Zandt’s new label Wicked Cool Records (yes that Little Steven, of E Street Band and Sopranos fame!), 2009 will see the release of a brand new Boss Martians album and, of course, more relentless touring! Keep your eyes peeled hard for these Rock & Roll devils and do not miss a chance to catch one of their exhausting live performances if you have the chance!

Boss Martians’ guitarist Evan Foster uses Jimi Hendrix Pure Nickel
LT and REG, Vintage Electric Re-Issue LT, and
Nuno Bettencourt Electric NB-CL.

Boss Martians’ bassist Scott Myrene uses Nickel Plated Blue Steel MED.

Evan Foster had this to say about his Dean Markley strings:
“I’m extremely hard on strings both live and in the studio, and after trying countless brands I decided Dean Markley offered the best-sounding, longest-lasting electric guitar strings—period. Markley’s Jimi Hendrix strings are the best pure nickel strings out there—I would recommend them to anyone!

Scott Myrene had this to say about his Dean Markley strings:
“As a finger style player I can count on Dean Markley Nickel Plated Blue Steels for killer attack and clarity to make sure I’m heard through the mix. These strings maintain their tone well and truly keep up with the rigors of the road.”
