In 1998, Rob Blasko Nicholson became the demon bassist for Rob Zombie. He has played on all of Rob Zombies solo albums (Hellbilly Deluxe, The Sinister Urge, & Educated Horses). Playing for Zombie is one of the ultimate gigs, explains Blasko. I thought this was it and I couldnt go any farther. When Rob Zombie decided to put a hold on the music and focus on writing and directing movies, Blasko decided to look for another gig to continue playing music. He landed the ultimate metal gig there is – as the bassist of choice for the Prince of Darkness, Ozzy Osbourne.
Blasko originally joined Ozzy in 2003 as the replacement for Jason Newsted (ex-METALLICA). Unfortunately an ATV accident sidelined Ozzy and his touring plans. Rob Zombie once again called for Ozzfest 2005, and Blasko gladly accepted. Also during this time period, he decided to start up a music management company called Mercenary Management with long time friend John Fenton of Sharon Osbourne Management. Now the company touts some of the most promising new artists in the Metal/Hardcore genres.
After Ozzfest 2005 had wrapped up Blasko would perform with Ozzy on a few special shows such as the NFL kick-off for the Patriots, as well as, flying to London to play for the Queen at her Royal Variety Performance. Blasko then resumed playing with Rob Zombie on his new CD Educated Horses, and a sold out tour to follow. Blasko came home to Ozzy calling him for Ozzfest 2006 duties. I thought it was done and over but then I get the call and it all spiraled back to where we are now and I am back playing with Ozzy.
