For the past two decades Bill Dickens has been recognized as an extraordinary bassist, producer, and songwriter. His musical contributions can be noted from concert and studio performances to television and the theater. He has played with an endless whos who of musicians, including Joe Zawinul, Janet Jackson, Grover Washington, Chaka Kahn, Pat Metheny. Bill has also written gold and #1 hits for such greats as Aretha Franklin and Ramsey Lewis.
Bill has kept audiences on the edge of their seats since the 80s with his uncanny technical ability, playing anything from the heaviest funk grooves to unaccompanied melodic ballads on his seven or nine string basses. He is always a main attraction at the NAMM Shows.
To complement his unique styles of playing, Bill has relied for many years on a special cocktail of gauges from the SR2000 Bass string series. They are comprised of .125 (B), .087 (E), .067 (A), .047 (D), and .027 (G), along with the plain strings, .022 (C), .017(F).
When asked about strings, Bill comments,
Dean Markleys are the greatest strings in the world
and I will use them forever!
