When the Athens, Georgia-based B-52s burst upon the music scene in the 1980s, no one was quite sure what to make of them. Their outlandish stagewear, combined with Kate Pierson and Cindy Wilsons towering beehive hairdos, presented a wild visual stage image that was a strangely appropriate match for Fred Schnieders quirky vocals and the bands rocking sound. Best known for their hits Rock Lobster and Love Shack, the B-52s guitarist Keith Strickland uses nothing but Dean Markley Blue Steel Electric strings to get his unique sound.
