When the Athens, Georgia-based B-52’s burst upon the music scene in the 1980’s, no one was quite sure what to make of them. Their outlandish stagewear, combined with Kate Pierson and Cindy Wilson’s towering beehive hairdos, presented a wild visual stage image that was a strangely appropriate match for Fred Schnieder’s quirky vocals and the band’s rocking sound. Best known for their hits “Rock Lobster” and “Love Shack”, the B-52’s guitarist Keith Strickland uses nothing but Dean Markley Blue Steel Electric strings to get his unique sound.
